Can I use a Stainless Steel Fruit bowl as a bathroom sink?

Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a stainless steel sink, can I just spend 20 at Target and buy a stainless steel bowl and drill a hole at the bottom and use that? Are nearby any disadvantages of this? Will it rust over time?
Thanks

Answers:    i'd say the disadvantage is that when you invite guests over, they might chew over you're cheap. Plus the environment of having a solid tangible sink seems better. But otherwise, it's not too desperate of an idea. the rusting shouldn't thing much (if it even rusts) because you can just replace it again.
WTF!
Some of these cheap stainless steel bowls are terribly thin metal, it might nouns "cheap and tinny" when water is going into it. It might dent efficiently if someone drops something in the sink. Also, sometimes stainless steel get small regions of pitting (where there be a non-homogenious spot in the metal) if the metal is really trim, the pit may reach through to the other side and motive a leak. (I enjoy had this start several times with cheap cooking pots, bowls and the like). I'm not truism don't do it, but it might not work out as well as you assume.
You could, but unless you're incredibly resourceful, it's gonna look tacky.

I own 'stainless steel sinks', and 2 out of 2 have rust that I can't find rid of.
It is an economical idea for that vessel sink look, however it is not something I would recommend. I too thought of tons ways to come up with a inexpensive and creative thought, however, after doing some research I found that my ideas be not so feasible. The internet be the best solution for finding nice products at reasonable cost. The disadvantages are - drilling a hole surrounded by the steel without a carbide bit will create a serrated edge, which can front to leakage; stainless steel is impressively tough to keep looking apt especially in marine situations; and last most fixtures with the sole purpose stand about 4" towering at most, this bowl would have to be pretty shallow. Last but not smallest, stainless steel is not suppposed to rust, but it can. There are many grades of stainless, you take what you pay for. I hope the time I spent figure this out for myself helps. Good luck. Tip:Check out vessel sinks on ebay.
I wash, and in certainty, took entire baths for over two years in my steel pot within the North Vietnamese jungles so, I guess you can use a steel fruit bowl.
It won't rust but, it doesn't enjoy the same density and you'll enjoy to make sure it's hermetically sealed or you'll have hose down all over.
You'll also hold to make sure it solid contained by place so it doesn't create leaks. You could be asking for more trouble later it's worth.
