How hot does it capture?

Answers: I live within TN, and it got to 178 deg on my roof, [used a Pyrex temp Gage,] i be wondering the same piece, when it was 108 on out side, thermometer,
Not to funny but i am shure it can return with VERY HOT.... because it will "hold" heat... and it will freshly keep attainment heat from the sun.....soo honestly VERY HOT...... not an exact temp sorry!

I am a reference librarian at a public library contained by Westland, MI and decided to do for a while looking around for your answer. I wasn't able to find information for the southern U.S. specifically, but here is what I did find:
On a 90-degree year, the temperature on a traditional black roof is a sweltering 165 degree, with an interior heat of 124 degrees.

In a study using infrared thermometers, the Chicago Department of Environment found that on a 100-degree morning, the surface temperature of a blacktop roof reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Up to 160°. Depends opn how hot it is outside and what direction the pitch is facing during the hottest part of a set of the day. It also depends on treeas and other types of shade. I know that if it's 105° the surface heat could reach 160° contained by the direct sun.
I used to work for a solar panel manufacturer and we regularly saw temperature above 303 deg F (we were generate steam at 70 psi). Our panels be dark green, so if your roof is depressing green or black, you could expect similar temperatures.
