My muted fixture surrounded by my kitchen have 4 builbs ,the 4 ft long tipe single 2 donate street light works the ones on far departed?
Answers: My personal belief would be to just replace the intact fixture. The new fixtures are more vivacity efficient than the weak ones. You can get them pretty cheap (depending on the fixture you choose). After 8 years its time for a untried look anyway and this is an easy fix.
You can spend the money on a modern ballast if you want, but some, especially the older ones, used two ballasts instead of one and if that the valise you might as well replace both while you're doing one.
Some of the elder fixtures also come equipped with something call a "starter". Its just a short time silver colored piece to help aid the ballast at start up. Look inside the fixture and see if yours have one. If so, try replacing that first.
Good luck and make sure to TURN OFF THE POWER BEFORE TOUCHING AND ELECTRICAL WIRING.
Double check the bulbs by taking the 2 that do lighting and putting in the locations of the 2 that don't. be sure that you put them within correctly. The pins on the end of the bulb wishes to be in the sockets and turned horizontal to slot contained by the sockets.
If the middle bulbs still do not light, the ballast is discouraging, you will need an electrician to replace that. The ballast is a transformer specifically inside the fixture above the bulbs.
If your bulbs are blackened on the ends then it may lately be bulbs. Otherwise like the others said it is your ballast. Being 8 years weak you probably have the antiquated 40W ballasts in nearby. I would go to a 32W for both ballasts. You could even purchase one ballasts that run all four bulbs if you want. The 32's are brighter, produce smaller number heat and use smaller quantity energy. It's a pretty smooth job but if you are not sure don't do it.
