Is a 1hp aircond blower motor connected to fan blade?

My aircond has been making lots of noise lately and I've tried to dismantle the motor to oil it, but I can't because there's a long rod connected to the blower motor. How do I disconnect this rod?
Is this rod connected to a fan blade?

Apprecaite if somebody could shed some light on this, thank you.

Answers:
if your air conditioner fan motor is supposed to be oiled you do not have to dismantle it, it will have two small holes at the top of the motor one at each end, usually it will have two red plastic plugs in the holes, but you must rmove the air conditioner from the case hope this helps.

Other answers:
yes , use a long hex wrench to remove it.

sounds like you are talking about a shaft and a squirrel cage blower assembly. the rod you are talking about is the motor shaft that's connected to the squirrel cage. you should be able to oil the motor without disconnecting anything. get a zoom spout oiler.
yes, we call it a squirrel cage. there is a set screw that must be loosen and do not hit on shaft, try using wd 40, and if you must tap, use a piece of hard wood.
some motors have sealed bearings and cannot be oiled.
look for a small plastic cap at each end of the motor if you dont see any your out of luck. you shouldn't have to remove the motor to do this
