Toilet won't drain...overflows?
one of our toilets. won't drain right presently. In other words, you flush and water come into the bowl, but nil leaves and wants to overflow.
I focus the issue is frozen pipes since the water coming within is VERY VERY cold. Have tried a snake with no luck. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Answers: Probably not a frozen pipe. Waste pipes on toilets don't really hold hose down long enough for it to freeze. If the trap contained by the toilet was if truth be told frozen so would be the water surrounded by the tank and the toilet would enjoy probably cracked when the water expanded.
You said you run a snake thru it so that leads me to believe the vent stack is clogged. If the vent stack is cloogged it make a vacuum when you try to flush the toilet stopping the water from going down the drain. And next to the added water from the cistern you get the overflow. Its sporadic that the vent stack gets clogged but it does take place.
If you can safely obtain on the roof. You should see a bunch of vent pipes sticking up there. Figure out which one go to the toilet with the problem and run the snake thru it to see if is clogged. If this solves the problem you may want to put a vent stack cover over it so it doesn't appear again. But make sure you don't trademark the stack completely or you'll have one and the same problem.
If it's frozen pipes you better turn your water rotten ASAP or you'll be swimming pretty soon. Try a plunger. If that doesn't work then appointment a plumber. The clog may be farther down the line.
