how do I find my ceptic tank?
Answers:
Look for a clean out by the side of the building. Try taking a metal rod(4 or 5 foot long) working your way out from the building, poke down in the ground, with some luck it will be shallow enough to be detected when the rod won't go down. If you can get a sewer rod and go down the clean out until it stop you should stop where it enter the septic tank. Mark the rod and pull it out, measure that distance and start poking with the rod that distance out. Also might try the local health department to see if it was required to be mapped. It could be just about anywhere. Good Luck!

find the main drain pipe inside your house
this should go through the wall to the outside of your house. the septic tank should be in a direct line to that point
most tanks are with-in 10 ft of the house
finding the access cover is another story
look for some sort of marker or
call local septic service companies see if they have serviced your lot
speak to previous owner
If your house is fairly new the county you reside in should have a record of where it is.
a probe works really well, also if the field lines are stopped up look for the wet spot.
