Water leaks from 15 yr old washing machine & house lights flicker during wash cycle. Repair or replace?

Electrician spent 2 hours checking main power line to house, wiring and socket used for machine. Determined that the machine needed to be repaired. I noticed it was leaking after the electrician's visit. Whirlpool Corp. charges $70 for a home repair visit. Haven't used the machine much in 15 years. Is it more financially prudent to just replace it with a new one?

Answers:
Replace it---u will save that money in conservation of power and water in new machines---u can always find 2 year old machines for a fraction of the cost..There r good payment plans with all washing machines

Other answers:
I say replace it.
I say replace it.
Whirlpools usually last forever. I would probably pay for the repair.
Replace it.
15 years? I say replace it
Replace it. The thing is way past it's prime. TRUST ME!
I would replace it too.
MOVE.
I would doubt that it would be worth fixing. You may have to put more money into it than it's worth. It would be more cost effective to buy a new one.
This is always a tough decision with a good quality product because, as others have said, they have the potential to last a very long time.

But, from what you've told us, it's probably best to replace it. Even if the parts are available to repair it, advances have been made in the past 15 years. A newer machine will be more efficient, more reliable, and probably have more features.
I would not spend more then $200 fixing it. Then buy a new one.
It would probably be more cost effective to replace it. It is old and probably isn't very energy efficient. If you do decide to have it repaired get a qualified electrition to do it as it sounds dangerous. Be careful! good luck
No, there is nothing wrong with your washer. You have a ghost in the house. I appreciate a ghost story even when it aint around end of October. Thanks! No seriously, replace it. You can't say you aint used it much in 15 years unless you wore dirty under-ware everyday. Did you?
Even if you buy a used machine that is newer and better shape, you are ahead. Dump it.
I'd replace it.

Being that old you can repair what needs to be done now, but you have to ask yourself what else can go wrong with, you can keep fixing a bunch of little things but all that adds up over time, especially at $70 for a home visit and I'm sure thats not including any parts that need to be replaced.
