It would amazingly much depend on the T&Cs of sale and the guarantee supplied next to it.
Within the T&Cs there may hold been a clause which stipulated that any guarantee would simply be valid if the fire was maintain in accordance beside the recommended schedule. If this be the case you would hold invalidated the guarantee by not adhering to the T&Cs.
