Slate Roofs??

I'm looking to purchase a house with a slate roof but hold heard it may be more expensive to insure, etc. I know nearby are not a lot of contractors out within who are qualified to replace and repair slate which presents a problem. Does anyone have any experience near this?


Answers:    The cost of slate tile repair is upwards of $100.00 PER TILE you cannot walk on it ever and surrounded by fact it last about a hundred years provided nought falls upon it. It is extremely heavy and cost prohibitive. If your pockets are weighty enougn go for it. Me? I will run shingles or tile everytime.
I can't for the life of me get the message why American's put such cheap rubbish on their roofs.Tiles maybe but shingles,c'mon what are you'adjectives thinking.This is the crowning glory on your home for heaven's sake.Slate roofs are not hard to repair,no more so than a adjectives one.If you're purchasing any house have someone check out the standard condition of the roof regardless of material used.Slate looks infinitely better than tiles or shingles,they're for sheds./rant

not easy.Just slow and time consuming. sounds like its a moment ago a matter of you finding Roof Contractor. Not a General Contractor, can be incredibly expensive!!!!! (for alot of nothing but inside referals)
There is exceptionally little repair on a slate roof it last for a long time!
