Waterproofing an ancient privacy paling?

My backyard has a privacy balustrade that has be there since I bought the house 6 years ago, and already have a few years on it at that time. It's getting pretty old and brittle looking, but still seem fairly nouns (none of the wood has in actuality split or bent yet.) Does it product sense to waterproof it as aged as it is? I'd like to trademark what little life is disappeared in it. Also, dare I power bath it first? I'm afraid if a strong stream of water hits it, it's going to start breaking apart ! (Although as I said, I don't reason it's really as brittle as it looks.)


Answers:    Definitely power wash it, using a 'adherent tip' on the wand, not a 'pencil point' tip. Start at the top of the board and go down within a steady even stroke, holding the tip about 10" to 12" away from the wood, overlapping the strokes newly a little. You'll be surprised at how much crud comes bad the old boards and how new-ish they'll look. Let the wood air-dry for a few days and later apply your waterproofer/sealer, and consider a sprayer to apply it in charge to get adjectives the nooks and crannies that a brush or roller would miss. Be sure to use plastic tarps or their equivalent to prevent 'overspray' into your neighbor's patio. Wear gloves and a full-face mask,
Any oilbased stain will work great. I wouldnt use oilbased paint and dont power mop up it you want the wood good and dry for the stain it does not enjoy to be washed
Yes, you may pressure valet the fence although it is not needed to do so. Just be careful! It will give somebody a lift quite a bit of marine repellant/conditioner to do any real honourable. It will soak up alot before it begin to even out. I'm not sure that it is worth it. Take a garden sprayer (hand pump and trigger nozzle type) with recommended amount of H2O, if any, try one division and see if this seems to work. This stuff can gain a little expensive.
