how do you clean dried mortar off cement (Sidewalk)?

we just had our patio tiled and the contractor left a few spots of spilled mortar. I tried to hose it off but it will not budge.

Answers:
use a putty knife to get rid of the bigger pieces, then pour a strong acid on the spots leave for an hour (keeping animals and people away from the area)rinse well and use steel brush to remove residual.

Other answers:
Chisel it off. If it is on the tiles, you must take special care to avoid breaking the tiles -- apply the chisel at a very low angle. Clean up with muriatic acid if necessary.

get down on your hands and knees or use a strong bristle brush and scrub like hell it will eventually where off but if you scrub it it will come off a little faster then if you just let it there also try and get the bigger parts off with a putty knive just don't go to deep good luck
a strong chisel or putty knife and lots of elbow grease
Do not clean it yourself. Call the contractor who is responsible and have him clean his own mess. If you damage something during cleanup, it is your fault and you will have no recourse. The COntractor can always say he would have done it if you called and he would not have broken or scratched or discolored it. Have him do it- it is his job.

Never pay a contractor until the cleanup is through. That is as much a part of the job as any of it.

Good luck.....
