How can I tell if my blades for my chainsaw are dull by just looking at them?
Answers:
Use a magnifier. They look rounded instead of coming to a nice sharp edge. You can also check it by feel.
They get dull pretty fast. If you have cut some trees then it could probably use a sharpening. That doesn't cost much, and makes a big difference.

You have to look real close.
Not normally...you can carefully feel them though and see if they are sharp.
Umm, you cant. does is cut or not? If it doesnt cut well, they're dull.
feel but be careful
cut off your hand...if it cuts right off then they are not dull. If you have trouble cutting of your hand then change the blade. ;)
U can inspect it by using ur hand. But it needs perfect experience and if u dont know how to do that then dont test it using ur hand and blame me for your lost finger...........:-)
Ask the chain 'why did the chicken cross the road?' , its response will help u judge how dull it is.
If its not cutting
By sight its more difficult. Best way is to cut through wood. A dull blade will cut slow and "bind up". While a sharp blade will cut "faster".
No problem at all. while looking at the blades of your chainsaw pl. think of the approx. usage that you have done and how you handled it and on what surface you can easily judge its life and if it is worn out you see it clearly if you are using it regularly.
Try checking with your finger over it... iof the finger cuts...the blades are okay, and if not...it is blunt..... you can try it on someone's neck too...lol...just joking... don't go on trying the second one...
You can't tell just by looking at them. You need to test it on something. What I suggest you do is start it up and try to cut someone's head off with it. If you can't saw through their neck easily, I would say you need to buy a replacement chain.
