How can you determine the age of a window air conditioning unit? Also the maufacturer.?
Answers:
A lot of good advice has been given.
If you can't find the name plate anywhere then try google via the images button and see if any of the thumbnail pictures resemble your aircon. Also ebay might have one for sale again with a picture so you can recognise and read the details.
Hope this helps

You should be able to take off the front cover, and there will be a plate with the manufacture date, the BTU's and the manufacturer. IF you buy a used unit, it's a good idea to clean the coil and condenser. A lot of times they will run like new after this, and it will cost you about 30 to 50 bucks at a heating and air conditioning repair shop if you don't want to do it yourself.
Slide A/C out and look on the side , if it is not on the back .
Serial number or model number call a repairman and give him the numbers he can tell you the manufacture and possibly the year . Good Luck
