Scratched my front door - how to fix it?
Wife went crazy, incidentally, so answer brisk and save my duration.
Answers: Childrens wax crayons.
If it just on the surface try well brought-up old T-cut & some elbow power in attendance are quite a few well brought-up cutting compounds on the open market ! some are tinted they work well but depends on the colour of the motor as to the finished products quality !
Get a product call Light Compound #7 by Simoniz. It works well within getting oops paint off of other items. Follow the directions on the can. You can acquire it in the automotive booth of most stores. Go over the door with touch up paint after you wipe it down after you use the compound. It should do the brief.
Tell the wife to relax, it's just paint and it can be fixed.
yeah, Not sure where on earth you are but if you go to your hardware store or paint shop - surrounded by the uk i would recommend Johnstones. can you take a clear photograph of the colour? or pick up a colour chart"pref Johnstones because they use actual dried colour sample in their charts unlike lots others. You dont want to get a pot and realise its dried a different shade." depending on the wood of the door - how open the scratch is - the finish on the door coat and the depth of colour........
You can pick up woodfiller and own it shaded to match. Get some really fine wet&dry sandpaper and completely, very compassionately sand the marked nouns. Use the filler from a flat flexible filling blade or spear and something like a 3" scrape knife. " anything next to a straight flat edge.. Dont use anything rigid to put the filler on the door. Estimate how much filler and put that amount on the wider "scrape knife". with the flexi run through or blade mix the filler on the scraping axe until smooth. apply small amount to mark. Tkae any excess bad as you only want to shallow surface swarm. The flexi flat edge that you apply it beside - you take it sour with. Door flat - Knife flat. Run the flexi down the door until anything pertruding the dot is not visible. Leave it for the req drying time and enormously, very compassionately sand just that nouns. If you put it on thin satisfactory you should be able to remove dried excess particle with a wet/damp cloth. Again colour dependant. You may be capable of get away near it . Or speak to your paint/hardware store. Maybe take contained by a photo. You may be able to "t cut"it out.
You shouldnt hold to do the whole door but you must be sure of the finish eg. oil/water base. Waxed etc or the outcome will not be good.
Dont spend ages on it or you will over do it which could result contained by you doing the whole door. You know where on earth the scratches are. When you conjecture you are done, walk away, clear your herald and go vertebrae in an hour or more. Dont be looking for it.
If it jump out at you - different matter.
Good luck beside the door and wife.
Regards
Marie
Take a good phot of it and carry some paint mixed at the DIY store.
Or get a paint colour chart and see which one match the door.
Good Luck
Easy way to get them look less- buy her chocolates (Ferrero Rocher are a good standby) and filch her out to dinner, coming home after dark. Tomorrow, acquire down the diy store! -and let her choose some plants or doesn`t matter what is her thing.
