A pvc drain pipe from the ac/furnace, goes from the 2nd floor of our home to the basement, gets clogged? help
Answers:
have been in a/c for over 20 years, if you go to the starting point,
(condenser/air handler) and pour some regular household bleach into the drain pan, it will kill the algae and help clean out your pvc pipe. if you can get to the out side end, (where the water drips out of), and get your shop vac and create a vacuum, suck out the pipe from the drain end. be a good idea to do this a couple of times a year.

It's sludge/ algae that develops in the line... especially at any right angles in the line. Try taking something rigid but flexible like an electrical "fish" tape and run it through from the top end to clear the obstruction. Next, introduce a little bleach to breakdown the clog... don't use Drano!
After the clog gets cleared, incorporate a maintenance plan of putting some bleach in the drain line when you replace the filter.

An HVAC technician told me to pour about a cup of bleach down the pipe on my AC when it gets clogged. Make sure it won't drain anywhere near animals.
Go to your local hire shop and hire a "sewer snake". They are and electric drive unit with 18 metres of flexable shaft meant for cleaning out underground drainpipes but it should do the trick. They are powerful enough to shred tree roots and come with 4-5 different head attachments depending on the job.
it gets clogged by dust.dump water down the pipe periodically to keep from clogging.if it gets clogged, blow it out with air.
