why does an ac compressor, and suction line freez up?

Your unit is low on charge. Have a tech check your schrader valves for leaks ( Normally the problem if unit has been working til now ) And then charge to proper level. I work on A/C's

Replace your accumulator and orifice
Most generally, this accrues when your freon becomes low! Have an AC technician check out your AC unit!

It is either a dirty filter, blocked evaporator coil , dirty blower wheel.The cupped blades can be full of junk. Low on freon. Check out in the order I gave.
