Is it ok to newly shut stale the surge supressor switch to sour during a storm or purely unplug it completely?

Usually I pull the plug from the wall but if i shut the switch rotten doesn't that take away the "Surge" protection and confer on the equipment vulnerable to lightning and surges. What if I do nought and leave the surge element on and lit..Joe

Answers:    most likely what you hold is a surge "supressor" not true protection against a lightning strike. there is video of lightning hitting cable and the bolt coming out of the tv and hitting a storm lantern across the room. unplug your surge strip from the wall,
How many times own you been hit by lightning? Just bestow it plugged in and on.
When you unplug it here is NO electricity flowing so how could it hurt anything?
Best option is to unplug it. Second best is to depart from it on an operable. If you just turn it sour lightning can still come through it.
The surge protection is actually wired contained by before the switch and perform its function whether the power switch is turned on or not. Still if you are turning off the equipment anyway, not a fruitless idea you might as economically unplug the surge suppressor and be completely safe. Remember it is a surge SUPPRESSOR not a complete eliminator.
