What is wrong near my freezer?
A couple of weeks ago I notice the ice-tray wasn't really freezing so I called the keeping people at my apartments and the guy come over for about 30 second and told me to defrost it by unplugging it for 24 hours and return the temperature to 3 (9 is highest). I previously have it up to 7.
Well that seemed to work but adjectives of a sudden it seems to be arranged again.
I put a meat thermometer in the freezer and it is around 22 degrees inside. It have been a couple of hours and isn't getting any colder.
Help! what should I do?
Answers: if rime is building up on the walls of the freezer, the temperature setting could be too low! If rime forms over the cooling coils inside the walls then they won't be capable of cool the air (which is what freezes the rime cubes.)
There are coils on the outside somewhere - probably on the back. They should be uncomfortably hot when the compressor is on. The hotter they are, the more boil that's being removed from the fridge. If they're not hot or simply a bit warm, after the compressor is shot or the compressor gas is escaping (ie the thing is toast.)
If the fridge slice is really cold, then within may be a single temperature control for both section.
In this case, here will be a mechanical flap resembling a little door somewhere between the two compartments which can be slid depart or shut to adjust the amount of cold air that go to each sector..
(By the way, the best approach to remove ice from a freezer is to turn it bad and empty it consequently hold a hair dryer inside until the rime can be pulled loose. Then turn it back on - but just replace the food after the walls get frosty or the packages will find stuck Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes altogether. This course the food doesn't have a prospect to start thawing.)
You didn't mention how matured the fridge is. Have you checked the rubber seal around the door for leak or damage? Does the freezer door trademark tightly when you close it? Are the hinges loose or starting to flop when you open the door? Basically what I'm getting at is look for a discouraging seal that would result in your freezer to leak cold nouns.
