How do you get rid of dark water stains on granite countertops?
Answers:
The discoloration from the tank could be from the water, but it could also be from just having something sit so long on the stone, which can have it 'age' differently from the rest of the counter. I would recommend that you be very careful using Pepsi as recommended by someone else. It very well might take the 'crud' off, but you have to understand that cola contains an acid, and acid WILL etch stone. I would first try a really good degreaser to see if that pulls it. Also, do not be afraid to use a solvent like Acetone to break up any topical crud.
If there is no crud, only discoloration, you might have some luck blending the rest of the countertop by spraying some WD-40 onto a soft cloth and wiping onto the stone. This has a tendency to 'saturate' the color, making it darker. A solvent based impregnator (sealer) might also give good results.
Just be sure to try a small area first with any treatment you decide on. This will ensure that you do not destroy the top. Good luck.

pepsi cola ........pour it on let it set ....or alka seltzer...or efferdent tablets for false teeth cleaning even vinegar....all good for granite scum / stain removing...then after the scum is gone use a tube of tooth paste to "shine the granite"......its a simple thing to do and inexpensive. If the dark is not gone set a desk lamp on area to "deep dry the granite"

Go to the hardware store and buy granite polish.
