Old gas wall stove, pilot stays lit, principal burner won't wishy-washy.?
Answers: the above anwsers are completely wrong ..... as stated in the inventive question the pilot is ON and lit simply fine..... Thermocouples are what maintain the inerworkings of the element as a whole. Think of it as helpful of like a sensor that tell the main gas spigot that its ok to turn on the gas to heat the room
the thermocouple tell the main gas spout to stay on even if the thermostat or internal relay of the main gas spout are failing
wall heaters don't have fan in 99% of cases.... to give a fan to a wall electric fire is a very unpopular upgrade.
the first clue above is that its over 30 years ancient so there for it would not hold a high boil limit switch which is true for popular brands resembling Cozy and Williams
its most likely the thermostat.... a simple agency to check it is to eliminate it and see if the element works without the stat
in attendance are two wires going to the Theremostat on a millivolt type unit. to theory test the heater short using the stat all you want to do is take the two flex leads going to the stat and hook them together... if the wall kiln functions as normal next you have a bleak thermostat
if the unit still wont come on consequently you have a problem beside the main gas tap its is usually a light gray metal color going on for 3x3"'s or so in size. it is where on earth all the lead hook into the wall furnace
there is a internal realy that have probly failed or shoreted out and unfortuneatly gas valve are a sealed factor and not internally serviceable
its about a 100$ division in most cases
