What is the best sealer to use to seal an asphalt driveway?

I have a 5 year old asphalt driveway that is starting to show wear and develop some small cracks. In general, I don't like the latex sealers that neighbors have used because it seems to me that they develop even more cracks in the sealer than they had in the driveway to begin with. In addition, I don't like the "painted on" look of these sealers. Finally, I don't know if it makes sense to put a latex sealer on an oil based (i.e. asphalt) driveway. Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

Use a crack filler to fill in those small cracks first and then buy the highest quality sealer you can find. I usually buy the Airport Grade sealer in the five gallon jugs at Home Depot...
