Spray foam loft insulation. Worth the money?
Answers:
my boyfriend is a roofer & he advises not to do it, fo a start its a ventilation nightmare, which is pretty essential to a roof & if there are any roofing problems it can make the situation worse because it sticks everything together restricting movement & making it very difficult to do roofing repairs ( broken slates/ tiles etc). if you need insulation between the timber rafters use 50mm celotex / lion board cut it to size & slot it in! not forgetting to vent the roof!

I have seen it in buildings and it seems to be pretty good.
Why dont you see fi there is a way to do it yourself and save the headache of some sales person bugging you.

Contact your local council and ask for the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre, I temped for the Essex EEAC a couple of months ago but they dealt with all of the anglia and brighton area. I suspect theres other offices that will cover the area where you live.
Its a non profit organisation that advises and provides quotes for loft insulation and cavity wall insulation as well and if you qualify you should be able to get part of it paid for by the government.
There is no salespersons and the prices are more or less fixed so the contractors couldn't rip you off if they wanted to.
There is a website www.eeac.co.uk which has all the info you need.
Good luck!!
I had it done about 12 years ago, and I am happy with it. The company is called RENOTHERM, one of the first to do it. (www.renotherm.co.uk) I don't remember the cost.
yes it is worth getting done but like any work you you get done make sure the firm is reputable get at least 6 references off people who have got work done by the firm or if you see them working on a house take anote of the address and call round a couple of weeks later and see if they are happy with the work after all it is your hard earned so be careful
