I have a weed eater brand weed eater how do I know if I need to use a gas/oil mix?
Answers:
Weedeater brand weedeaters don't use 4 strokes... ALL weedeater brand weedeaters/poulans use a 40:1 2 cycle oil mix
(poulan sells they're own synthetic 40:1 with a fuel stabilizer, I suggest using that.... simple, easy, and it has a fuel stabilizer which you will want when keeping the gas for long periods)
Thats 40:1 ratio ( 3.2 ounces per ONE GALLON ) of air cooled 2 cycle engine oil.

Read the manual or call the customer service number

if its two stroke yes if its 4 stroke no
it will usually tell you on the gas cap, or you can search that brand/model # on google
My Weedeater calls for a 50 to 1 ratio. I just buy the two cycle oil in a small bottle that gives you enough oil for one gallon of gas.
Why don't you ask whoever you bought it from? Otherwise call a local hardware store to make sure.
There should be a label telling you to mix the gas with oil - standard is 1/3 pint 2 cycle oil to 1 gallon of gas. Check the present fuel in it if there is any. It should be slightly greenish in color and if there is no fuel, check the smell which is different than straight gasoline. If you can find a dealer, ask them or contact a small engine repair shop.
Most of the engines on such devices are 2 cycle and require a gas/oil mixture.
almost all string trimmers are a 40;1 mix of gas and oil except echo 50;1 also look on the gas cap they almost always put it on there
