I moved into my apartment right after Thanksgiving 2007. Soon after I could smell an odd smell but didn't know what it be. I thought it might be my roommates belongings. The smell got progressively worse. I notice the smell was coming from the vent. The smell was so desperate I thought a dead animal be in my airing system. Recently the office regulator of my apartment complex let everyone know within my building that there be a break in a sewage pipe and asked me not to use the water/flush toilets/take showers. I found out from my friend a few doors down that the plumbers be working through her apartment and said there be atleast 2 feet of sewage running below all 10 of the townhouses. When they be trying to fix it they ran into a gas overflow.
The managers of the complex enjoy not done well within informing us of what is going on. I was wondering if nearby are any immediate condition risks I should be worrying about or any guidance. I had to walk out because my nose be burning.
Answers: The smell alone of sewer water will not hurt you. If so, every plumber contained by America would be ill. Now I wouldn't drink it, but a moment ago the smell wont hurt you. Saying the landlord should enjoy took care it isn't necessarily gala....you'd be surprised how much can build up with a broken pipe until someone notice. Sounds to me though he is trying to fix it. If I were you Id be more concerned near the gas leak not the humiliated smell.....rub some Vick's vapor rub under your feeler and man up.
of course. contact the vigour department to determine if it is safe to move contained by again. check your homeowner's or renter's insurance policy.
