How so I fix a light switch by myself?

Answers:
Is this a switch in your home? They are easy to replace and cost almost nothing. Make sure you shut the power off at the circuit breaker / fuse box. Then check how the old one is wired and put the new in exactlly the same.

Other answers:
Go to the store and buy another light switch. Go home and turn off the breaker to the room you are working in, unless you like getting shocked :-) Take out the current light switch and replace with the new one. Make sure that all the wires(which should be color coded) match up with the wires (by color code) on the new light switch. There you go!

Locate the fuse or isolator and disconnected from the mains supply.
Using a neon mains detector, check to see if supply is now OFF. Ensure you are not grounding yourself, undo the terminal screws and replace like wires with the new switch.
New switch's, usually have instructions, so read these carefully before starting.
Well, like everybody says, fixing a light switch don't worth the mess you might made. Better to replace it.

Note: You can actually replace the switch with the central fuse still on, so the lights on other rooms, doesn't goes off, but it's very risky for electric shocks and you have to be very good at handling electric objects.
first shut off breaker or remove fuse. test wires for power before working on switch with a (tick tester) available at any hardware/home center. is this the only switch controlling the light if there are two switch say at ends of room it is a three-way. look at switch does it say on/off, if it says nothing on switch then 3-way. take off cover remove screws holding switch. pull switch out look at it. if it has two wires replace with single pole (switch with two terminals on it. check to make sure it is a 15 amp switch if it say 20 amp replace it with 20 amp. If switch has three wires red/blk/wht two travelers and a common make sure you put the correct wires back on correct terminals. look at old switch one blk terminal two silver terminal.
Take some time, go to the bookstore, the home repair section and I'm sure you can find a wonderful how to book on home electricity. if your cheap like me you can study it in the store but I think it's good to have around the house. then you can go to the hardware store with knowledge and know exactly what you want and you can check it out at home when you reinstall have fun.
