Black dirt appears in my toilet regularly even though I clean it daily. What causes this?

Answers:
I think it's some kind of mold. I get the same thing in mine unless I keep a chlorine tablet in the tank.

Hi,
I used to have a toilet that did the same thing, somewhere in the pipes there could be rust, or it's under the rim.
check the tank. it may be mold so you could try pouring some bleach in the tank to clean it out
If you're on a well it's sediment that can be taken out by a whole house filter put in your system and if it's city water it's probably from rusted pipes and can also be taken out with the same kind of filter. They are only about 20 bucks to buy one but if you're renting you'll have to get the landlord to put it in. If you own maybe a plumber or someone who knows how.
do you have a dog? they are notorious for digging and playing in the dirt outside and heading straight for the commode(to get a drink) when they get in.
