When should you get rid of a refrigerator instead of cleaning it?
Answers:
Wipe it down with chlorox! This will kill any mold.
I would find a way of shooting some down those vents, or wiping them with chlorox, that will kill the mold.
Make SURE you wipe down the seals, as the mold may be under them, because they may not be sealed tight and promoting mold.
After you have wiped down everything, freezer included, let it stand out for a few hours before putting it back into service. (The chlorox smell should dissapate after a few hours, maybe put a fan on it so it blows clean air into the fridge and freezer part.
Then put some arm&hammer baking soda in there to absorb all odors that will emit if it comes back...
Also, if it comes back... GET RID OF IT!!
It is not healthy for anyone to be exposed to MOLD!! Lots of health hazards like asthma, headaches and all sorts of symptoms that are detrimental to health, even MEMORY LOSS!
I wish you well..
