Having done this for years the whole process is quite simple to me but can be overwhelming for someone who has never done it. If you enjoy a seam in your laminate (two pieces of laminate butted against respectively other) and you have never done laminate seam, you will want to get a professional to hold care of the position for you. A professional seam will hardly be notice unlees it is examined very closely. Also you obligation to know how to keep the seam from splitting under different humidity conditions.

I used a roto closure tool on the last laminate I installed, worked great. As long as the bit on your router is rightly sharp, will work well.
If you are shy of of a router, then you should enjoy someone else do the laminate work. In order for the duty to look professional, the laminate must be finished off next to a laminate trimmer in a router. If you are used to with a cabinet scraper, you could procure the laminate to overlap say roughly a 16th of an inch and then basically scrape the laminate down to where on earth you want it. But I don't recommend that if you don't have experience. Get a pro to do it. You will be satisfied that you did.
A laminate trimmer or a router will do the same work. I use my router because it also does many other job. A trimmer is only for laminate. I do more than newly counter top work, so the router suits my needs. Decide what your wishes are and make a ruling.
