Why do some faulty electronic gadgets work after a few knockings?

Answers:
the biggest problem with most electronic, believe it or not, is dust. When you give it a quick knock your removing, or just moving, the dust. Your also risking damaging the connections and solder joints. Go buy a can of compressed air and use that instead. I've fixed a lot of "dead " electronics with a quick blast of air.

Perhaps you just beat the poor thing into obedience... lol
but seriously, its probably because of loose connections
or maybe banging it just restarts it, i have no idea
but do it enough times and it will die
