I just bought a home that has a above ground pool?
Answers:
The best wqy I found was to turn on the filter and pour bleach in the pool -- run the filter for a day then get into the pool and use a thick cloth mop and wipe down the sides and bottom--let the filter run again, backwashing often, then do the same thing again if needed. I know this sounds like something you don't want to do, but I found the only way to get it under control was to loosen up all that allgie,-- filter it out-- then put chemicals in it to keep it under control

We also have an above ground pool, go to the pool supply store, you will probably have to pour the shock to it, ours was in about the same cond. when we bought our house. We use Baquacil products, they are easier on the eyes and the pool liner. Cholorine will eventually make your pool liner brittle. Start adding your chemicals now so you can enjoy the pool in the next month or so. Good Luck, hope this works for you. The Green Slime is alge, oops spelled that wrong, you know what I mean!

Best advice is to take a water sample to a pool store. They will test it and set you up on a chemical treatment program. Purchase a good test kit and get them to show you how to use it. Your test kit should be your best friend! Good luck.
Fill it with water, load it with shock and algecide, run the filter, add D.E. to the filter, prime the pump a million times as the algae will clog it over and over.
