Remove water stain from stained Cherry bookshelf?

I have a white stain on a cherry stained bookshelf caused by water seeping form a potted plant over a long period. Can anyone tell me the best way to remove it please.

Answers:
It sounds like just the wax has discoloured. Take pure turpentine, and in a circular motion, rub the spot. Turps will dissolve the bees wax surface and make it not so noticeable. If you have any of the stain, you could rub a little into the spot, but normally the turps will do the trick.
