Electric bill cross-question?
The details I remember are: The furnace is a two-cycle or something like that. The window are argon-filled and vinyl. I think I'm remembering this right.
We're outstandingly disappointed to find out that our heating bill is simply about exactly indistinguishable this month as it was 12 months ago. What within the world could be wrong? New furnace and windows should be in your favour us a ton of energy, right? That be our hope and plan anyway. Any ideas why it didn't work out that road?
Is there anyone we could contact to give support to us figure out what the issue is? The electric company? The places that sold us the furnace or window?
Thanks very much.
Answers: Trust me when I speak, "I feel your agony!" We've got double pane window, energy simplified appliances (as many as we could get), freeze within the winter and boil in the summer, and STILL enjoy huge electric bills! Of course, OUR issue is the electical co-op we're with...and we CAN'T switch!
Some things you can do to try to minister to are caulk around all the window; make sure at hand is plenty of insulation in the attic; check for drafts around the house (we hold a really bad draft coming from at the back our built-in microwave/vent hood) especially around and under the doors. If you do hold drafts around the doors, put weather stripping up around the door frames, and get a sweep for the bottom of the door. Also, if you don't own them already, ceiling fans might relieve. They'll help to circulate cool nouns in the summer, and if you reverse them and save them on low, they do a good mission of recirculating the warm nouns in winter.
Check contained by your area, because the utility company may grant an energy audit. I've see some that will come out and take a thermographic picture of your house to see where on earth heat is escaping. If it's not free, it might be worth the cost to hold it done anyway, just to see where on earth you may have a problem.
Other than that, build sure anything that doesn't have to be on or plugged surrounded by is off or unplugged, and turn stale lights like crazy. (That's what I do, since my 3 kids don't seem to be to realize that switch goes DOWN as resourcefully as UP!)
Good luck, and let me know what (if anything) you find out!
Actually if the bill is impossible to tell apart, you're doing ok. Energy prices have gone up considerably.
