my dishwasher won't drain..any suggestions?
Answers:
In my experience, it's usually been because food is clogging the hose that drains the water out of the disposal, and the water pump in the dishwasher isn't able to pump all of the water out. (Of course, the pump could be bad too.) Bits of food accumulate in the hose over time because I don't always rinse the dishes very well before putting them in the dishwasher. If it "sounds like" the pump is running, and if at least some water is draining out, then chances are good that it's just partially clogged.
In mine, the drain hose goes from the dishwasher and drains into the garbage disposal side fitting. Before it gets there it also goes to an overflow that is mounted next to the sink faucet, and allows water to spill into the sink if the disposal drain is clogged. These hoses are usually clamped on with spring clamps or ones you tighten with a screwdriver. Mine usually clogs at the fitting where it goes into the disposal. To clear the clog, I unhook the clamp at the disposal, pull off the hose, clean out the crud, and then it's OK for a few years. Clogs could be at the other ends too (dishwasher end or overflow), but the disposal end is usually easiest to get at, so I start there first.
If the hoses all check out clear, then I guess the pump is bad.

IG YOU HAVE AN AIR GAP CHECK TO SEE IF THE LINE IS CLOGGED. IF SO TAKE A METAL COAT HANGER, STRAIGHTEN IT OUT AND STICK IT INTO THE DRAIN LINE!

it may be clogged in which case you may need to "snake" the washer drain or use a chemical clog breaker like Draino. That may help you out. Otherwise call a plumber.
You need to call a plumber.
First of all, check to make sure nothing's plugging the drain - this will mean sticking your hand into the bottom of the dishwasher and sort of swishing it around to feel for any obstructions. BE CAREFUL - if the drain is plugged it could be something as innocent as a piece of carrot or a spatula that dropped through the rack, but it could also be broken glass/enamelware, a knife, etc.
If your drain isn't clogged, check to make sure the hoses haven't come undone (the user manual should give instructions for this). That sounds kind of dumb, but trust me, they can come loose with surprising ease under the right circumstances. If they have come loose, the user manual should give instructions for reattaching them. It's pretty easy, as long as you have basic tools (i.e. a screwdriver, maybe a wrench).
If it's neither of those problems, it's probably an "internal" problem, and for that I'd suggest calling a professional so you don't inadvertently break something by trying to fix it yourself.
if this is a new dishwasher connected to a disposer did you knock the plug out of the disposer
i have been called to more than 1 house that had this problem
