Will a full freezer use less electricity than an empty one?

Answers:
Most definitely. The more that's in it, the less it has to try to keep cold. More cold mass, will stay colder, for longer.

The question is CHANGE. If you have had a full freezer for a long time, not that much electricty. If you just filled it up and nothing is frozen yet--it uses more electricity.

The more it is opened, the more electricity it uses.

Yes, your freezer will run more efficiently the more full it is. Even putting bottles of water in it will help. They will freeze, of course, and help to keep the temp low in the unit, and that will save on electricity.
yes. If you don't have enough food to fill it up, put some water in old milk jugs, and freeze those. you will then have an extra backup in case of a power failure
yes
The full freezer will use less because all the frozen food will help keep the temp down.
Yes... probably. Provided you use it. There is less air to re-cool when you open a full one. On the other hand an empty one you would never open so thats the most cost effective...uhm...forget I said that.

Initial cooling takes longer so depends on how fast you refill your fridge and how fast you empty it.
The ONLY advantage to this would be the fact that as the entire MASS of a full freezer would take longer to warm up and to get cold, allowing the compressor to run a longer time. When a compressor starts and stops frequently, it uses more electricity to actually start the motor on it.

So by having it full, it would run longer, instead of short runs trying to cool a small mass.
