My sump pump stopped working. I raise the float as high as it goes - nothing. What am I missing?
Answers:
Fuse? Are you sure it is getting power? Next will be the switch that raising the float activates.
To check the switch turn off the power & run a wire across the switch terminals. Turn on the power. If the pump starts get a new switch.

i would check the breaker or fuse. if that is not it I would say replace it. I mean yes their are things you can check but going into trouble shooting a pump would be more typing then I feel like doing. Also it probably would be a waist of time.
Find a small lamp and plug it into the wall socket to check the plug to be sure it is live. Then pull the pump sometimes they get trash caught up around the screen clear that if that is the problem. If it still doesn't run after that buy a new one. Home depot has moderatly priced ones that will be an exact fit to what you already have and should be too much of a hassel to switch out.
