We're looking to buy a home in NC that has masonite siding -- our inspection showed that at least eight boards are rotten and require replacement with hardiplank/fiber cement... I've asked around, but I was hoping someone here might help...
What, generally speaking, can I expect to pay for repair? Should I repair or should we pay extra to completely reside the home (about 2,000 sf)? What kind of range can I expect to pay for completely new siding?
Any help is greatly appreciated...
Answers:
We just replaced several boards in our house in Raleigh for a price of $1875. We had a lot of rot which I don't recommend anyone to ever buy a house that has masonite. It is the cheapest material ever used. It is a good thing we didn't land up with termites. If you are looking to side your entire house that will be close to $20K. Don't let anyone charge by the hour either. Ask how much for the job.
