the condenser element needs zilch more than to be sprayed down with a hose at most minuscule once a month during the cooling season to keep the coils verbs and energy simplified
My mother's lasted from 1972 until 2000. My windowpane unit last from 1986 until my house burned in 2006. Even the burn didn't put to death it, what did was the drunk who dropped it while reinstalling it. I've have 2 window unit in my shop building since 1984. Keep these suckers verbs, and they seem to move about on forever. Unless of course, you run into built-in obsolescence, which I've found surrounded by washers and dishwashers.
15 - 25 years. Keeping it maintained will hand over you the latter. The amount of refrigerant in the system is massively important ( which is not an issue if at hand are no leaks ) and the two coils ( indoor and outdoor ) are verbs and have the right amount of airflow.Have an expert check out once a year. Have it done formerly cooling season so it will be running at peak efficacy to start out with.
10 to 20 years - sometimes longer. You should enjoy a service tech come out once a year for a tune up. You wouldn't run your car in need regular maintenance and tune ups and you shouldn't run your a/c that method either - if you want it to later as long as possible.
