Can you keep your utility bill down in the summer by moving air through a PC pipe that is buried under ground
Answers:
This will be the future of air conditioning....
Called Geo-thermal Air Conditioning......
It has to be properly DESIGNED and installed....
The "Tubing" buried to a depth capable of lowering the air temp...
Plus the proper length of tubing ..........has to be long enough to work...
Air could be pushed thru this larger ID (8"+-) tubing.....
OR a refrigerant( like antifreeze, alcohol, etc) is pumped thru a smaller tubing ....such as copper tubing.... and sent to a "heat exchanger" like a conventional a/c unit has...
Some would use a "waterwell" to do the geo-thermal exchange..... this would greatly reduce the Surface-Area required for the system.......
These geo-thermal a/c units would use about 80% less electricity than current conventional a/c systems.......

I guess you're talking about cooling the house down? You still have the problem of getting the air to move through the pipe. You are wasting time and money with that project.

maybe.
You can lower energy bills with Geo systems. a metal pipe would be better then a PVC pipe because metal conducts heat better.
I don't know if you bury a pipe yourself and hook a fan to it how much it will save you, but if you have a company install a system it will save energy. It will take several years to pay for the instillation with savings. I think like 10 for the system i saw at a home show.
Yes! Proper design is required. This concept is not new. Visit Monticello and see how Thomas Jefferson did it.
