you can not prevent or stop eff. PROMISE it is the sodium in the clay mix sweating out. If you wash it, the moisture will bleed more out. Let it run it's course for atleast a year then lightly cleant the surface with a damp, not wet, spong. The more water you use, then more likely it will soak in and bleed out more.
