why wont my pilot light stay alight?

Answers:
If you can adjust the flow of natural gas to it, turn it up a little and keep it out of any drafts.

Other answers:
Your gas pressure may be too low.

I assume you're talking about the pilot light in a propane appliance. Check to see if there's enough gas available and that all the tubes are free of any blockages.
I wonder if you ever lite it or maybe your flame went out
Two reasons.....there is dust/fluff in the pilot, or the thermocouple has broken and needs replacing, either way the flame goes out.
i have greasy fingers
Are you talking about Palm Pilot?
insects and rats might be the culprit.
it may be an electric pilot light
air in the lines...hold the pilot button in for a while before you try to light it
The orifice could be dirty, that, where the fuel comes through and it has a very tiny hole.
Usually it is because you haven't held the pilot light depress button on long enough and therefore the thermocouple is not hot enough to signal the pilot to stay lite. Try depressing the red pilot button in and relight the appliance. Hold the button in for a minute or two then slowly release the button, turn the appliance to on and it may come on. If that does not work replace the thermocouple. It is very cheap but necessary to keep the appliance gas feeding. The thermocouple (and thermo-electric devise)sends an electronic signal to the appliance telling it that there is a flame, and to continue to feed fuel into the pilot or burner. They are easy to install. Good Luck!
more than likely you have air in your lines you may just have to keep lighting it till all the air gets out
Hold the button in to light the pilot long enough to get the thermocouple hot enough. If you are able, light it with a propane torch anf heat the thermo until it is red. Relase the button, if the flame stays on the thermo is good. If it does not stay on, the thermo is bad and needs to be replaced.
