Help!!We have just purchased a new house and the septic inspector came to do an evaluation and she was rambling on and I was so confused. Even when I asked her to expalin, I still felt like she was speaking another language to me. I have never in my life had to deal w/ a septic tank so this is just wierd to me. She said that I have to add chlorine tablets all the time and do all this maintenance ourselves. That is fine but how does this work?

Here's a link below that may explain what an aerobic septic system is, I have a septic tank installer license for a particular state. I think you better call her back & get a better explanation because septic systems work by adding benefical bacteria that breaks down the waste. Chlorine would kill them, along with many household detergents & chemicals
