question about hardwood floors?
Answers:
I have 2400 square feet of hardwood in my home!
First, damp mop only, and I recommend one of three things:
Plain water
Water with vinegar (I recommend this for getting rid of any buildup currently on the finish of your floors)
Water with a touch of Murphy's Oil soap
Also, do a google search for Shmop. It's a great mop for hardwood floors. I have an Amish cleaning lady who recommended this and it works wonders.
You could sand your floors lightly and put another coat of polyurethane on, but you might want to try the vinegar thing first!

I don't think they do. I my house I mop them (with just warm water no soap or anything) and they look shiny and are clean. I don't think you should use any strong cleansers though. Warm water and soap might work as well.

purchase a hard wood floor cleaner. scrub like you never have before floor will dull even more. once you know floor is super clean and dry . use polyurathane to reseal and coat floor . it is a lot of work but the beauty will be worth all the effort.
wood and water don't mix. you can damp mop spots but not soak the whole floor. I have family in the flooring business and they recommend going to a flooring dealer or somewhere like Home Depot and get hardwood cleaner. It's specially made for real wood floors and some manufacturers of flooring will only honor the warranty if you use it.
Polish it. It won`t hurt if you mop it either. It will just clean it. Use warm water and soap.
