What type of legitimate hardwood floor and finish is best for a 65# dalmation and 2 kids?
Answers: I own oak, unstained, with a satin polyurethane finish. I chose this odds bso that if the floors did get a mark it wouldn't show as badly as near the glossy finish. I also resembling the idea of letting the floors smoothly darken over time. The satin finish doesn't show every speck of dust and dirt that gets tracked within like the large gloss does.
I didn't hold hand scraped, I have professionally sanded so I can't answer that element.
My floors have be down 15 years and in large traffic areas they could use a touch up. There may be a harder finish out there very soon than poly urethane. The thing I similar to about the polyurethane is that I can wet mop them - I'll definitely look for that within any finish for future use.
Use a bruce hardwood floor. Not Laminate. Then use a nautical varnish finish on it. It is very tough, and scuff and cut into resistant but available through boat supplies. The hardwood you can buy at any home improvement place, and I suggest Oak.
Don't do it.
I'd stick next to Pergo. Dogs+Kids=messed up hardwood.
