I'm trying to figure out the voltage of this outlet I have in the wall for an A/C unit....it's alien looking

the outlet plug has two horizontal slots on the sides and a ground plug underneath

Answers:
The receptacle you are describing is rated for 250 volts. However, you should use a volt-meter to verify the voltage.

The receptacle will have a NEMA configuration number on it to designate it's rating. This one is either a 6-15R or 6-30R. The 6-15R is a 2-pole, 3-wire, 250 volt, 15 amp, single phase receptacle. The 6-30R is a 2-pole, 3-wire, 250 volt, 30 amp, single phase receptacle.
