How to fix a leaky pipe?
Answers:
For threaded pipe, follow the previous instructions.
For copper pipe, isolate and drain the line. Using a propane or mapp gas torch, heat the soldered joints evenly until you can pull the damaged pipe or fitting out. Use pliers, it's hot. Clean the sockets and pipe ends thoroughly with grit cloth. Apply flux to both parts. Heat the joint evenly with the torch and apply solder at the joints. The flux will draw the solder into the joint when it is hot enough to melt the solder. Remove flame and allow to cool. Open valves and check for leaks.

You'll have to be more specific. What kind of pipe is it? How old?
for threded pipe.
if it is leaking near a joint, you must turn off the water to fix it
1 take off the pipe
2 use plumbers tape (avaliable at any hard ware store.)around bolth ends (just to be safe)
3 replace pipe.
If it is in a straight run of pipe and not at a joint, try this. You'll need a size 16 or 20 hose clamp (one that's about the size of a... wait you guys don't use half dollars, do you? o.k. one a little bit bigger in diameter than the pipe) and a piece of rubber gasket material about 1/4 in. thick. Cut a 1/2 in. square of the gasket material, place it over the leak and tighten your hose clamp until it stops dripping. It'll hold for years, much the same way one of those clamp on saddle valves people use for ice maker lines.
If it is a pinhole leak in the pipe, you may want to consider a water softener. It'll keep new ones from forming and make stuff like the elements in your water heater last a lot longer.
