Does anyone know anything about foundation repair for a house?

My house has had foundation repair done 8 years ago and the piers had to be re-adjusted recently because they failed. Now the house is cracking in more places after the "adjustment" and they told me I need to spend from $4,000-$8,000 more for more piers. Do I pay for more piers or stand my ground and tell them they should have fixed it right years ago and now that they didn't the foundation is even more messed up?

There is a lawfirm specializing in attacking this specific company but they are asking for $1,000 fee upfront and I wonder if it will cost me much more with their fees and stress, etc?

Any help will be appreciated!

Answers:
i would not hire the same company and would nver pay a lawyer. lawyers will take a case if they think they can win and make money. if he wants to charge you he just wants his money

Be sure the lawfirm and the contractor are not related somehow,... this is a new type of scam cheating the consumer AND the taxpayer. Get somebody else to make an assessment and get them from a different town.

My husband used to do house levelling. I HELPED! I am now 59 year old (female)and I bet I could get under the house and fix it, But alas. I will tell you if you are young and I mean at least under 50 you can buy a jack at Harbour freight and get under the house yourself and level it back up with 2 x 4s approx. ft. long and some shims (wood shingles) you can get these at a lumber yard. If it only has a a few places to jack up you can do that first and see if it works. You can also adjust your doors by jacking on one side first and see if that levels up and if not move to the other side of the door (under the house) and raise that side up. It is not as hard as you think. I jused to get under the houses all the time and I was 110 lbs.! If you can't do this yourself, I suggest you look in the yellow pages and get a FEW estimates and ask for references. On the point of it being eight years ago- I can tell you that ground moves with the weather and we would never guarantee that it would not get unlevel again as that would be a lie. So ground moves and also moves back. Good luck.
