My oven gas doesnt work any suggestions?

I have a Tappan self cleaning stove. It's gas and electric. The stovetop works fine but the oven will not come on to heat. When you set it on Broil it works. Any ideas of what could be going on?


Answers:    May be the pilot light go out,look and if you do not see a glow to be precise what it is.
Have someone that knows how to wishy-washy it ,light it.If you can not a short time ago call the gas company and they will do it.
I'm assuming you're refering to the model that have a gas burner in the oven but, also an electric broiler. Gas ovens as a standard rule have a pilot oil lamp which heats a gadget call a thermalcoupling. If this gadget goes doomed to failure it will not allow the gas valve to permit gas into the burner unit. This a safekeeping devise to insure that gas is not sent to the burner with out ignition. Otherwise if the pilot go out you would have your house or apartment spread up with gas. I'm sure youv'e see in the movies what happen when someone lights a match!
