How do I go about changing the ignighter on my gas clothes dryer. I have no idea where it is. I have the part.
Answers:
In the gas dryers that I have worked on the igniter is located near the bottom left front. You get to this area by removing the front panel. How you do this depends on the model of dryer. On mine I had to remove two small screws at the bottom of the front panel and carefully pull the panel toward me and it came out. On a friends dryer, we had to pry the front corners of the dryer top. With the top now open we located two screws inside the dryer that held the front to the sides. We removed these screws and were able to lift the front out. Be careful because there are wires that go to the switch in the front panel. You will see the igniter under the drum. When replacing the igniter be careful that you do not touch the electrodes. Doing so may reduce the life of the igniter because of oils on your hands. Be sure to unplug the dryer and turn off the gas before making any repairs. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
