Where would you recommend I purchase a new furnace?
Answers:
If your current furance is in working order (albeit a bit inefficient or old) AND you are going to sell your house next year, I would NOT recommend that you purchase a new furnace. Typical payback horizons on this kind of investment take at least 4 years and it will almost certainly not increase the value of your home enough to be worth the up front costs.
You would be better off using the few thousand dollars to upgrade kitchen appliances or modernize a bathroom. Or just put it in the bank if your house's kitchen and bathrooms are in good shape. Furnaces do not sell houses. They've made up their minds by the time they visit the basement. (That is, unless they discover something down there that requires shoveling coal each morning :)
Having said this, if you do decide to replace your furnace... York, Carrier, and Trane are good brand names to go with. Janitrol and Goodman are poor quality.
Good luck.

I bought a new one 3 years ago that is 90% efficient for $1700.
Having a new furnace in place will greatly increase the value of your home.
I have a neighbor next door that got two two and one half ton units , 16 sear rating, on line from someone out of Florida. These were Rheem units and came with all the lines, air exchangers, new thermostats, pads to set the outside units on and shipping to the area, all for about 4500.00. Now he had to install the units so you have to add this to the cost if you can't do this type of work. Just food for thought, not much of an answer for ya. Sorry!!
find your local Amana dealer and get a quote. They have really great warranty, probably better than everyone else, and it will transfer to someone who buys your home.
