Saw a product at Walmart to clean the black streaks coming from shingles.
Answers:
The black streaks are caused by fungi, and any good oxidation formula (Clorox) will do the trick.
The only drawback with the chlorine-based fungicides is their propensity to reduce the life of the shingle by attacking the asphalt and rendering it brittle.
Pressure-washing will strip your roof of fungi, and if you resist the urge to douse it with chlorine, and don't strip off the protective granules with the pressure nozzle, you will not harm your shingles.
